Lg nas detector mac os

However, Time Machine only seems to offer internal drives as options. I used to have it backing up to a USB Drive, so it is certainly possible to point it at external drives, but I can't recall how to do this. Any ideas please? At the moment, I am back on Is that the reason for the problem? Some can be tricky to setup.

Manuals & Documents

I have a Buffalo 2TB Linkstation and you have to setup a special partition on the drive for it to be available to Time Machine. You should realy check with your manufactures website first to see if its compatible and if it is; the steps one needs to set it up. Turns out mine was as simple as turning on one of the NAS internal settings, creating a partition and assigning it as a TM Backup location.

Took like 30 secs, but until I read the manual I couldn't find the setting to save my life.

In fact the only software supplied with this drive that's for Mac is the NAS Detector which effectively just gives you IP address details etc of the drive. You don't need it but it can be downloaded from here: Please use the reputation system if you think you've been helped - bottom left of this post. Originally Posted by mrplow.

Can you post a screenshot? Incidentally, I did find details of a new UI available for this device. At some point during the installation of this, it will provide a warning that it is about to erase all files on the NAS. The whole point of using a NAS is to backup my files. Why for the love of all that is holy would I wish to erase all of those files just to update the UI or firmware on the device?

So where do I backup the backup device so that the first of those can be erased for no reason? I am only trying to add the TimeMachine option. The main part of the device is working, together with the iTunes part. I don't want to erase all that now. I can update the firmware on my Router without losing all of its settings.

I can update the drivers on my laptop without erasing the hard disk, so why is it not possible to update the UI on my NAS without erasing it? I'd deal with one thing at a time if I were you. If you want to configure Time Machine backups your first priority is to be able to log into the NAS drive via a web browser. The scan process might take a while, depending on the number of attached NAS systems, the availability of the network and some other parameters of its internal engine.

At any time, you can choose to initiate another scan process, which this time, will be carried out with progress inside the main window.

Clicking on a record allows you to play with several network parameters, such as subnet, default gateway and primary and secondary DNS. Also in the main window, you will find link to the NAS web menu and a shortcut to the network folder.
